Going Home to Visit

March 2, 2017
Thursday

The temple closes on Monday, the 6th for cleaning and maintenance.  A few months ago Wayne and I decided to s[pent this time at home.  We wanted to be home to take care of a few things.  I had a back tooth that cracked back in November and I just thought it would stay together until we got home, but it didn't so I have a tooth that needs to be fixed.  Wayne needed to take care of some licences that needed to be renewed and Tami and Nick needed their electrical panel replaced.  Cory moved into his new house and Andy and Muck have made the apartment part of their house and we want to see all of this, not to mention the 20 grand kids I'm dying to be with.  We found out Tuesday that Uncle Norman passed away.  His viewing is Friday night and the funeral is Saturday.  We arrive home Friday afternoon so we'll be able to go to the services for Uncle Norman.  Such a tender mercy.

We all all packed and ready to go.  This picture was taken in the Trujillo airport at 7:19 pm.
Hooper Utah here we come!

Our plane

I tried to get a picture of the mist coming out of the vents in the ceiling of the plane.  It was cool, but I didn't really get the picture I was hoping for.

Scenes Along the Way * Palermo Stake Missionaries

Scenes Along The Way

I took these pictures of the scenes on the way home from the Quintanilla's.
I don't ever want to forget what Trujillo is like!

Palermo Stake Missionaries

 I took these pictures of the missionaries in the Palermo Stake.
We know some of these Missionaries!

Elder Jeffery Quintanilla Return Missionary

March 1, 2017

We had the wonderful opportunity to share the afternoon with the Quintqnilla family and friends as they welcomed Elder Jeffrey Quintanilla home from his mission.  We went to the Palermo chapel  at 1:00 pm where Elder Jeffrey met with President Valdivia for an interview and was released as a missionary.    It was so fun to see him walk in teh church with many friends and family there to greet him.

After the interview and release, President Valdivia got up to the pulpit and asked Brother Quintanilla to come up and give his son a blessing and he asked him to remove the missionary badge from his son's pocket as he is no longer a missionary.   I couldn't take pictures, I probably shouldn't have taken this one in the chapel.

After the blessing and little meeting in the chapel, we all went to the stake presidents office where the cooler was going and we were able to take pictures.

Brother Quintanilla removing his son's missionary badge.    It was a tender moment.  It's always hard for missionaries who return to take the missionary badge off after wearing it for 2 years.  It was a sweet moment.

This was a special time for us.  We have been friends with the Quintanilla family since we got to Trujillo.  They have treated us like part of their family.  When Brother Quintanilla was in the chapel and giving Elder Quintanilla a blessing, Jeffrey asked if Wayne would please stand in with them.  It was kind of neat and a big honor to be asked to participate.  The only ones participating in the blessing was Brother Quintanilla, President Valdivia, Bishop Meza and Wayne.  It was pretty neat.

After we left the church we went to the Quintanilla home and were fed a wonderful lunch.  I made brownies in my big cookie tray and everybody loved them.  These are pictures from the lunch at their house.

It was such a nice afternoon.  We are so blessed to know these wonderful members of the church!  They are our good friends!

My View * Hospedaje * Uncle Noman Passed Away

* * * My View * * *

When I wake up in the morning, I always look out the window.  This is my view out the window from our bed.  I'm not sure if I think it might be raining, which it never does, or if it might still be dark.  Anyway, I took this picture as a reminder of my view out the window each morning.

* * * Hospedaje * * *

This morning Wayne and I served in the temple and enjoyed being there. Our morning shift starts at 6:45 am until 1:30 pm.  We  have been asked to help on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Hospedaje.  So as soon as we got through with the temple, we hurried and ate lunch then we helped at the Hospedaje.  Wayne sits at the desk and answers the phone, helps people get lockers to store their luggage and backpacks while they go to the temple, and he helps them check in and out of the rooms they stay in.  I am responsible to make sure the laundry is all washed, folded, and ironed, yes I said ironed.  We iron the top sheets and the pillowcases.   After I'm finished with the laundry, I sit at the desk with Wayne.  It's so fun to hear him speak Spanish to the people here.  I can see the love he has for them and has had for the last 40 years.

This is the laundry set up.
The counter is the ironing board.

Out the window of the laundry room, the sky was beautiful and you can see the cemetery which is next to the temple and hospedaje.

These next pictures are of Miguel and Suzie LaSerna's little boys.  Samir is the oldest and James is the youngest.  They were watching the movie in the waiting area of the Hospedaje while they waited for their mom to pick them up. Miguel works in the laundry in the temple. I took the iPad and let them watch a Spanish cartoon.  It was fun to be with little people and fun to listen to them laugh.  We love these boys.

We had a good day in the temple and also helping in the Hospedaje.  It's nice to be able to share with these wonderful members of Trujillo.

* * * Uncle Norman * * *

My Uncle Norman passed away this morning.  He was a wonderful man!  I'm so thankful that we are going home while the temple is closed.  His funeral will probably be the weekend we get home.
