Casa Grande Stake Conference

June 30th 2016

Jim and Patti Fackrell's son, Jacob, served here when the Marlers first arrived in the mission.  When the Fackrells came to pick him up they decided to serve a mission here while their daughter, Cara served her mission in Estonia and Latvia.  They have been here for 15 months.  They have done much to help the branches around Chocope and have even served in the mission presidency the last 6 months.  They have brought many to the temple and we will miss spending time with them.

On Sunday morning, President Marler picked us and the Hawses up in the mission van. They drove us to the Casa Grande Stake Conference.  We stopped in Chocope to pick up the Fackrells.  The Marlers and Fackrells both spoke in the conference. Casa Grande has been a stake for 5 years and is located an hour north of Trujillo.

The Stake Center is a large, one story house they have tried to convert  into
a chapel the best they could.  It is difficult to buy land for a new chapel in
Casa Grande.

We met with the Stake Presidency and Zone Leaders after the conference.  The Stake President's wife made and served us a Maricuya cheesecake.

After the meetings we all went back to the Fackrells home in Chocope for lunch.  They fixed a delicious meal of roast, potatoes, carrots, corn, salad and cherry pie.  Jim even made fresh limeade.

Saying Goodbye

Today is Wednesday, June 29, 2016

This morning, we watched as President and Sister Marler got ready to go home from their 3 year Mission President mission.  They have been wonderful!  We've watched them as they've bee parents to everyone of their missionaries.  They've trained them to be great missionaries, to love the temple, to have confidence in themselves, to love and be loved, and they've served with honor. 

Jim and Patti extended their mission of a year to 18 months because Jim was asked to serve in the mission presidency, which they did a great job of.  They served the members in Chocope and Casa Grande area as they brought many to the temple to receive the blessings of the temple.  They too have loved the missionaries and served with great honor.

The final goodbye.

The day did finally come for these two wonderful couples to return with honor from their service here in Trujillo Peru.

President and Sister Marler were the best at their service to 618 missionaries as they loved, taught, and watched over them. They touched the lives of many.  They were good to me and Wayne and we appreciate them being here.  They are great friends.



Our friends Jim and Patti Fackrell have been amazing!  They came to Trujillo to pick up their son from his mission and came back to serve a mission of their own for 12 months while their daughter served her mission in Latvia. They extended their mission because Jim was called the be a counselor to President Marler. Instead of going home in January, they extended their mission for 5 months, going home the end of June with President and Sister Marler.   They brought many people to the temple and helped many families to be sealed together forever. We saw the love they have for the members they have been serving.  They have blessed the lives of many, including us. We always had fun when we were were with them.



Trujillo Peru is a better place because of the Marler's and the Fackrell's service!   We are so blessed to be serving here, and to have been able to serve with Jim and Patti Fackrell and Kurt and Kathy Marler.

Last Night With Friends

Last Night With Friends - Bucket Game

June 28th 2016

Tonight when we got back from the temple at about 9:00 pm,  Bill and Sandy Hartman came over and we spent the evening with them and Jim and Patti Fackrell.  Jim and Patti are going home tomorrow and are spending their last night here in the Alberge.  We wanted to hang out and enjoy their last night in Trujillo with them.

We played the bucket game except we didn't have an ice cream bucket so we used a mixing bowl.

The bucket game is a lot like Catch Phrase. We had fun together and laughed a lot.

President Marler joined us for a little bit, he and Sister Marler are spending their last night here, staying with President Casós.

President Marler wanted to show us his new guitar, one of the members made it for him. It was beautiful. He played it for us and we sang along to You Are My Sunshine. We had a great evening.

Tomorrow morning we will be serving in the temple. Later in the evening, we will be going to the airport to send our friends off, as they complete their service as missionaries.

We're going to miss both of these great couples and friends of ours, but we're happy they get to go home and be with their families!! 

Last American Missionary Lunch

Today we went to lunch at Squalos with the American missionaries. It was the last lunch we will go to with the Fackrells and the Marlers.  They are finishing their service in a few days.

We will miss them but have enjoyed being able to be here serving with them in Peru.
