December 29th - New Years Eve - Fireworks - Los Hartman

We had another short week at the temple.  It was closed on the 31st for the New Year!
We spend every day together, so it seems funny to talk about how nice it was to share the last week with Wayne, but it was a wonderful week with Christmas and being able to talk and see all the kids, Grand kids and my Mom and Dad.

These are pictures of the White Christmas in Hooper!

On Thursday night, the 29th,  we decided to go out to sit in our spot in front of the temple.  As we were leaving our apartment, we saw the Bentley's arriving in a Taxi.  They've been in a matrimonial suite, They got transferred to work in the mission office.  We went to meet them and were able to visit with them as they ate their dinner in the comedor.

They told us about their new assignments and their transfer.  They received a call on Monday Dec 26th, that they would be getting transferred from Pacasmayo to be office missionaries, taking Sister Sue and Sandy Millers places.  The Miller sisters were getting transferred to work in the area church area office in Lima.

After we left the Bentley's, we walked around the temple and visited with the people around the temple grounds.  These were the fun pictures we took.

I love this one of us!

The Nativity

Friday after we worked at the temple, we walked to the mall and had the Friday special for our dinner.  As we walked past these animals that the kids ride around the mall, I had to take a picture because they aren't usually all together not being ridden.

Saturday was New Years Eve!  The temple was closed, so we had the day to do whatever we wanted.  We didn't have any planned for the day, so we decided to go for a walk.   We didn't really have anyplace we wanted to walk to, so we just walked.  We ended up walking 4 1/2 miles.
We took these pictures along the way.

This is a Nativity in one of the little squares.  I think it's funny all the different animals they've added.
This is a laundry.  Clothes are hanging to dry on the roof.

These beautiful flowers were in the island down the street.  They were really pretty.

The crane helping with construction

Looking back you can see that same crane.

They use cranes sometimes, but most of the time this is what we see as part of the construction.

This is how they hold up a floor  during construction until the cement has hardened.  Every time I see this, I can't quite figure out how it really works.  All I know is the wood log poles are pretty antique looking and it works.

A big nice house along the way.

We made our way to Wong, the grocery store we shop at and decided to go to Carmel Cafe which is on the street behind for lunch.  We each had a great sandwich and were able to relax.

We left Carmen Cafe and got a few groceries from Wong the we walked a few blocks to the Botanical Gardens.

Old fire hydrant
It was in the middle of a driveway.

Beautiful flowering bush

We've been to the Botanical Gardens almost a year ago,  It was nice to relax and enjoy the sites there.

I had turtles when I was a young girl, so I always like seeing turtles.

We had a great time at the Gardens and we got a taxi to take us home.

We spent the evening watching TV and working on our computers and we finished playing the Monopoly Peru game we started on Christmas Day. Wayne was the winner.

We welcomed in the new year with our New Years Eve group in Utah, they were at White Cloud celebrating, eating and having fun.

The people here in Trujillo do fireworks, we saw them everywhere and they lasted a long time. We called Bill and Sandy to wish them a Happy New Year, and ended up talking for a long time catch up.  We still miss them.
